The convention alternative event is a popular event held during the convention. The event accommodates approximately 200 of the delegates attending the SAPOA convention. The type of event selected depends on the venue where the convention is held. The convention currently rotates amongst the following venues: Sun City, the Durban ICC and the Cape Town ICC. |

REGIONAL SAPOA HALF DAY WORKSHOPS - A MINIMUM OF 10 WORKSHOPS |

The following regions are included Kwazulu Natal, Western Cape, Limpopo, Eastern Cape – Port Elizabeth and East London. The half day workshops attract an average of 25 delegates to each course. The sponsorship will be for anyone of the following half day workshop : Property Finance, Property Tax, Property Law, Property Economics, Property Investments, Property Valuation, Financial Viability and Asset Management. These are a series of specially focused seminars and workshops at which important issues in the property field are discussed and are opened to debate. Delegates from the property industry and are kept up to date on current trends. |

These awards are held annually at the convention targeting property industry media and journalists. The objectives of the awards are:
The following categories for the SAPOA Property Journalism Awards are included: Property News Journalist of the Year, Property Feature Journalist of the Year, Property Publication of the Year, Property Television interview of the Year and Property Radio interview of the Year. A judging panel of industry representative evaluates all submission and selects winners in each category. The winners in each category are presented their prizes at the SAPOA convention. |

SAPOA BURSARY SCHEME BENEFITS |
|
The bursary scheme is for 5 students who will study for a degree in property sciences. The bursary will cover the full costs of their studies as from 2010 and the following three year period. The Creation of the SAPOA Bursary scheme is one of the solutions to address the current and future skills crisis within the Commercial Property Industry and supports the Property Sector Transformation objects. Bursary applicants are selected on the following criteria:- Matriculation maths and science results, performance records at tertiary level 1st term results and work ethics and discipline. |

SAPOA Winter/Spring School Bursaries |
|
The bursaries for winter/spring school are aimed at raising the Mathematics, Science and English levels at Grade 12- increase pass rates for entry into tertiary education in Property studies. These students will be considered by SAPOA for funding at the tertiary level in 2010. A total of 10 students will be put through winter/spring school. |
