USE TECHNOLOGY TO DRIVE THE FOLLOWING THREE POSITIVE IMPACTS FOR SAPOA MEMBERS
Increase industry
profitability
(by, for example, enabling the property industry to reduce time spent by high opportunity-cost-of-time professionals to do repetitive processes manually, eliminating double-spend)
Improve industry customer experience
(by, for example, enabling tenant self-service, shortening turnaround times through automation, driving improved integrity / ethics)
Reduce risk
(by, for example, automating manual audit, reducing error-prone processes like data ETL, providing guidance on project best practices)

Establish the South African commercial real estate industry as one of the top five most progressive and innovative in the world

RESPONSIBILITIES #1
ASSIST IN REDUCING INEFFICIENCY, WASTE, AND RISK OF BAD DECISIONS – BY IMPROVING PROPTECH EXPENDITURE DECISIONS
Provide a recommended feature development methodology for SAPOA members to practically employ in engaging with technology service providers
Provide a set of principles for SAPOA members to evaluate service providers by:
- Inter-operability
- Fair and reasonable
- levels of customer support Domain knowledge
Assist with strategic decisions – for example, when to buy (build inhouse), when to rent
RESPONSIBILITIES #2
ADVANCE SA’S CRE INDUSTRY
Collaborate, align with and activate respected industry bodies (see below) to further CRE industry efficiencies
Foster greater levels of collaboration between SAPOA PropTech and other tech bodies abroad
To define a “from-to” roadmap and vision for South Africa’s CRE industry
Provide a set of data fields and definitions to assist in standardising data in the industry to accelerate advancement, reduce reporting overhead, enable for portability
RESPONSIBILITIES #3
EDUCATE, ENLIGHTEN AND EMPOWER DECISION-MAKERS ABOUT PROPTECH
Deliver valuable content pieces at minimum once per quarter aimed at adding value to SAPOA members (LinkedIn, Twitter, blog)
Assist SAPOA members with requested research and support projects
Research / understand PropTech solutions in use by industry players
Educate and support PropTechs regarding engagement protocols with property funds (solve problems from the tech provider POV)

Using tech, support and augment the initiatives of other committees (e.g. broker committee, methods of measuring floor areas committee, property and FM etc.)
